2005 Carriage Display exampleThe QUT Smart Train will once again take its message of innovation and technology to Queensland when it sets off from Ipswich on 12 May 2008.

All faculties at QUT - Business, Built Environment and Engineering, Creative Industries, Education, Health, Humanities and Human Services, Information Technology, Law and Sciences - are joining forces to create another exciting and worthwhile experience for the rural and regional communities around Queensland. This will be the fifth QUT Train to travel throughout Queensland in the last decade and is one of the State’s largest community outreach programs. QUT is very proud of this community engagement, having hosted over 90,000 visitors to date.

The train travels throughout Queensland for five weeks stopping at 24 regional and rural centres and is then in Brisbane for a further week.

There will be four carriages fully fitted out with exciting, interactive and informative displays and QUT staff will be on hand to explain the activities and displays.

The purpose of the train is to inform, demonstrate and stimulate community interest in innovation, science and technology, and social issues by encompassing a wide range of knowledge-based areas and issues, a broader spectrum of partners, and a greater cross-section of the community.

The QUT Smart Train would not be possible without the help and support of our supporters.
