The 2008 QUT Smart Train will be the fifth to travel throughout Queensland, continuing a highly successful program which has involved over 90,000 visitors and provided wide community exposure to key areas of science and technology and their application to everyday life.

The QUT Innovation Train set off from Brisbane on 4 August 2002, visiting 23 regional centres. All QUT Faculties joined forces to bring an a unique opportunity for all people in Queensland to learn more about technologies which work together so closely and impact on every aspect of our lives.
Displays included:
- The Home of the Future;
- Stock Market Trader – You can play our interactive game buying and selling shares;
- The Virtual Crime Scene - Find out exactly what types of forensic evidence the Police look for and how it is analysed;
- Heart Smart – Learn about your heart rate. How much faster does your heart beat after exercise? Why is a healthy heart important and does the food you eat affect the health of your heart?
2005 - QUT Smart Train - A ride for your mind
The QUT Smart Train departed Brisbane on Sunday, 15 May 2005 and travelled approximately 10,000 kilometres throughout Queensland for five weeks. Its four carriages of highly interactive fun and learning showed the exciting research and innovation from the brains at QUT.

- How to make wounds and burns heal faster and better
- Following investigators using forensics to track down a thief
- What does piracy mean today? What are your rights online?
- Money - Earn it, Save it, Spend it … Finding out its value today, yesterday and tomorrow

- Mixing and making your own music using intuitive software
- Medical engineering marvels - touch and move replacement joints
- Examples of Strong and Smart schools around Queensland
